PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Full-time form

Basic knowledge of the following disciplines: “Lingual country studies of Iran”, “Introduction to Persian philology”; knowledge of the history, culture, and religion of the countries of the Near and Middle East region.

The purpose of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of literary studies as a science and educational discipline, to highlight the specifics of literary analysis based on the material of ancient literature of the Near and Middle East. Within the scope of the discipline, written monuments and regularities of formation of the literature of Ancient Egypt, Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, Assyria, Ancient Israel, Persia, and India are studied. The discipline is a part of the complex discipline “Literary studies and foreign literature” and has a theoretical orientation.

Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of the students involves preparation for oral responses, participation in discussions, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries.

Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written assignments, reports and presentations – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final test paper – 12/20 points (totally 100 points). The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
