Learning outcomes
Achievement of such competencies, skills and abilities as: ability to apply theoretical knowledge and provisions of current legislation on: the essence of elections and their types, methods and techniques of voting, types and features of majority and proportional electoral systems; skills of argumentation of legal positions on the application in time and by persons of the provisions of the law, which determine the temporal and substantive boundaries of the election process and its individual stages; skills of reasoned written speech with the use of terminology of election law in the part related to certain topics of the discipline; skills of formation of proposals for improving the current legislation on electoral systems

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Understand and know the constitutional and legal requirements for elections as the main form of direct democracy, constitutional principles of organization and conduct of elections, the main types of electoral systems used in national and local elections in Ukraine. Have the skills of systematic analysis and application of legal norms to specific life situations, as well as consistent argumentation and defense of a particular legal position. Has the skills of writing legal positions
Course content
The discipline acquaints students with the concept of electoral systems and their components, the basic principles of suffrage, territorial and spatial organization of elections depending on the type of electoral system, the main methods and types of voting, specifics and genesis of the majority electoral system and its varieties. , preferential, with additional vote, etc.), the specifics of the proportional electoral system (method of distribution of seats by electoral quota, the method of "dividers", the electoral barrier, proportional electoral systems of closed and open voter lists, multilevel proportional systems). When studying the discipline, students gain knowledge about the features and procedures of electoral systems, basic principles and features of electoral systems used in elections in Ukraine, problems of electoral systems depending on the type of elections and possible ways to overcome them.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and seminary activities - with the introduction of interactive teaching methods (brainstorming, case studies, discussions and others). Solving situational problems is planned; preparation of certain types of election documentation; writing essays by students on problematic issues of election legislation in the relevant part
Assessment methods and criteria
Ongoing and final performance evaluation is applied. Assessment methods - the type of work / activity of the applicant, which will assess the level of achievement of learning outcomes (testing, creative tasks, individual work, independent work, etc. and the minimum threshold after which a positive assessment is credited) - and evaluation criteria are communicated to applicants before beginning of the study of the discipline by a teacher who conducts seminars. At the ongoing and final performance evaluation are subject to assessment: the level of "Knowledge", "Understanding", "Application", "Analysis" / "Synthesis" / "Evaluation", demonstrated by the applicant. The maximum total number of points the applicant can score in the ongoing performance evaluation - 40, in the exam - 60. The final score for the discipline is set on a 100-point scale (ECTS) and a national scale.
