Learning outcomes
PLO 5. Apply analytical and methodological tools to substantiate proposals and make managerial decisions by various economic agents (individuals, households, enterprises, and public authorities). PLO 8. Apply appropriate economic-mathematical methods and models to solve economic problems. PLO 12. Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge to solve practical tasks and meaningfully interpret the obtained results. PLO 27. Use appropriate software (programming languages, packages) for economic and mathematical research.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To Know: the basics of operations research, in particular mathematical modeling of economic processes and systems, methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis of optimal solutions; basic concepts of economic theory and higher mathematics. Abstract thinking skills, analysis, synthesis, understanding of decision-making problems for managing economic systems, substantiation of optimal decisions for solving economic problems based on models and methods of operations research, application of knowledge in practice.
Course content
Module 1. "Special economic and mathematical models of operations research". The module discusses optimization problems of the transport type, models of economic systems or processes that function over time, as well as problems of decision-making and optimization of resource allocation between indivisible objects. Module 2. "Investigation of parametric changes in the input data of optimization models". The module considers methods for studying the sensitivity of the optimal solution to changes in the input data of economic and mathematical models based on parametric programming. Module 3. "Economic and mathematical modeling of economic systems and processes characterized by nonlinear dependencies." The module considers the formulation of economic problems, which are described by nonlinear economic and mathematical models, as well as methods of their optimization.
