Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the characteristic morpho-biological and ecological features of different representatives of the Arthropod type. 2. Be able to determine certain taxonomic groups of arthropods by specialized determinants; to make temporary and permanent preparations of animals. 3. Have basic skills in using specialized computer programs for presenting data in text format, search and analysis of information in specialized professional journals and the Internet.
Course content
As a result of studying the elective discipline "Practical Arachnoiontology", students will know: the main groups of pests - representatives of the Arthropod type; biological and ecological features of pests that contribute to the outbreak of their numbers; ways to monitor the population of the pest; the main groups of organisms used in biological control of long-lived organisms; how to plan a comprehensive pest reduction program and evaluate its effectiveness; the functional role of individual groups of arthropods in the implementation of biodamage processes; methods for detecting bio-damage caused by animals; basic methods of protection of raw materials, food and non-food products, museum collections, buildings, from damage by various animals.
