Learning outcomes
PRO3. Use theories and laws of mathematics, physics, chemistry and other sciences to solve problems of modern biology. PP04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the boundaries of subject areas. PRO8. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental biological processes, structure and functions of living organisms. PR15. Apply in professional activities methods for determining the structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization. PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology. PR21. Solve applied problems of biology by appropriate methods. PR24.9. Possess basic methods of genetic engineering, technology of cloning and production of recombinant molecules.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Biochemistry", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Human and Animal Physiology", "Immunology", "Virology", "General Genetics", "Molecular Biology", "Biotechnology". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology, etc. disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work. 3. Have the skills to work with scientific and methodological literature.
Course content
The discipline "Problems of modern molecular biology" studies the molecular basis of heredity, molecular basis of hereditary diseases and structural-molecular basis of mechanisms of development of general pathological processes. Prospects of genetic technologies in combination with modern approaches of nanomedicine in personalized gene therapy are outlined.
