Learning outcomes
PLO 3.To know and use economic terminology, explain the basic concepts of micro- and macroeconomics PLO 5. To apply analytical and methodical tools for substantiating proposals and making managerial decisions by various economic agents (individuals, households, enterprises and government authorities). PLO 7. To explain the models of socio-economic phenomena from the point of view of fundamental principles and knowledge on the basis of understanding the basic directions of the development of economics and economic policy.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know basic concepts and laws of modern economic theory, basic economic models of the markets; general mathematical laws; economic and mathematical methods and models. 2. To be able to think analytically, to apply mathematical knowledge and knowledge of economic laws to solve economic problems, to develop simple economic and mathematical models, to forecast and to analyze conduct of business units. 3. To have basic skills of learning, analysis, synthesis, comparison, abstraction, generalization, etc.
Course content
Microeconomics is a part of economic theory aimed at studying a mechanism of decision-making by market participants – individuals, households, firms and organizations which try to maximize their own benefits under resource scarcity and also at solving problem of the optimum goods and resources allocation in economy. Course consists of the next parts: consumption theory, theory of production and production costs, analysis of market structures, resource markets, partial and general equilibrium, externalities and theory of public choice.

1. Theoretical discussions, oral speeches – 10 points / 6 points 2. Fulfilment of practical tasks – 10 points / 6 points 3. Midterm test (2 writing works, each for 10 points maximum) – 20 points / 12 points 4. Individual work (preparation and presentation of the project) – 20 points / 12 points. 5. Exam – 40 points / 24 points.
