PR02. Use libraries, information databases, Internet resources to find the information you need. PR06. Analyze biological phenomena and processes at the molecular, cellular, organismal, population-species and biosphere levels in terms of basic general scientific knowledge, as well as using special modern research methods. PR11. Carry out statistical processing, analysis and generalization of the obtained experimental data using software and modern information technology. PR18. Model objects and processes in living organisms and their components using mathematical methods and information technology. PR20. On the basis of in-depth knowledge of natural sciences to form an idea of the laws of individual and historical development of biological systems at different levels of the organization.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Virology", "Principles of safety in the virology laboratory", "Virus identification", "Virus genetics", "Fundamentals of viral carcinogenesis", "Antiviral immunity", "Human and animal viruses". 2. Be able to independently apply the classification of human and animal viruses, characterization and taxonomic position of major DNA and RNA-containing viruses, identification of different types of viruses, knowledge of general virology and other disciplines to solve specific scientific and practical problems, work with scientific and scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills of systems analysis.
Course content
The discipline is designed to form a system of abilities and skills in the evolution of viruses, conditions and mechanisms for the formation of evolutionary changes in populations of human and animal viruses, phytoviruses, bacterial viruses and more. An important place is given to the genetics and molecular biology of viruses as criteria and factors of evolution rate, methods of micro- and macroevolution, hypotheses of origin and evolution of viruses, together with methods of analysis and characterization of genomic and amino acid sequences of viruses, genetic analysis of viral populations and dynamics of their changes. methods of phylogenetic analysis and construction of phylogenetic trees. The acquired knowledge can be used both in research of related sciences and in interdisciplinary projects and which require knowledge of this discipline.
