Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses Bioorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Human and Animal Physiology, Biophysics, Cytology 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of bioorganic chemistry and biochemistry of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates, biochemistry of enzymes, molecular biology, features of the structure and physiological functions of the liver, kidneys, blood, nervous and muscular systems, connective and bone tissue. 3. Mastering the skills of working with instruments used in practical biochemistry and molecular biology, calculating concentrations and manufacturing solutions.
Course content
The course introduces students to the biochemical reactions and molecular mechanisms of the processes that underlie the functioning of the liver, blood, kidneys, nervous system, muscle, connective tissue, bone, and their most important disorders. Topics such as the principles of liver function tests, diagnostically important blood components, normal and pathological components of urine, molecular mechanisms of action of diuretics, mechanisms of formation of gallstones and kidney stones, the role of abnormal levels of neurotransmitters and disorders of their interactions with receptors in nervous disorders are also covered. , molecular mechanisms of action of neurotropic drugs (neuroleptics, antidepressants, tranquilizers) and non - medicinal substances.
