Learning outcomes
PL01. To know and understand the economic categories, laws, causal and functional relationships that exist between processes and phenomena at different levels of economic systems. PL 13. To understand the peculiarities of the functioning of enterprises in modern economic conditions and demonstrate an understanding of their market positioning. PL14. To be able to apply economic and mathematical methods in the chosen profession. PL 17. To be able to work both independently and in a team, to show leadership qualities and responsibility in work, to adhere to ethical principles, to respect individual and cultural diversity.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the key aspects of the functioning of the economy. Be able to think logically and analytically, apply in practice specific methods and techniques of cognition to substantiate and evaluate economic phenomena and processes. Have the skills to independently search, analyze and organize information of an economic nature.
Course content
Subject and method of economics. Economic needs and interests. Material bases of civilization development. Property in the system of economic relations. Social production and its results. The essence and evolution of money and money circulation. Market economy: essence, structure, infrastructure. Globalization of the economy and general civilization problems of mankind. Demand, supply and market equilibrium. Competition and market structures. Entrepreneurship and enterprise in the system of market relations. Production costs and profits of firms. Revenues, their sources and distribution. Economic growth. Cycles and macroeconomic instability. National production and reproduction. Financial and credit systems. Government regulation of the national economy. World market.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semestrial evaluation: 60 points maximum / 36 points minimum. 1. Work on seminars ((oral answers, additions, problem solving) (RS 1.1-1.3; 2.1-2.3; 3.1; 4.1) – max. 25 points / min.15 points; 2. Module test (2 MT) (RS 1.2; 2.1-2.3; 3.1-3.3; 4.1) - max. 20 points / min. 12 points; 3. Individual creative task (project) (RS 1.1, 1.3; 2.1,3.2; 4.1) - max. 15 points/ min.8 points. Summary evaluation during examination: maximum grade for the exam – 40 points, minimum number of points added to the semestrial grade – 24 points.
