Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Develop, substantiate and make effective decisions on the development of socio-economic systems and management of economic entities.
PLO 4. Develop socio-economic projects and a system of all-inclusive actions for their implementation, taking into account the goals, expected socio-economic outcomes, risks, legislative, resource, and other constraints.

PLO 8. Collect, process, and analyze statistical data, scientific and analytical materials needed for solving complex political and economic problems.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. knowledge of the theoretical foundations of economic theory, microeconomics, macroeconomics, money and credit, and the financial market;
2. ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret statistical data and present the results of analytical and research work, taking into account various uncertain situations;
3. possession of modern methods of collecting, processing, and analysis of economic information, basic skills of mathematical modeling and forecasting, techniques and tools of analytical work in Excel, fundamental skills of public speaking
Course content
The course is devoted to studying the preconditions for the central bank's emergence, evolution, role, and function. The discipline reveals central banks' main tasks and activities in the organization and regulation of money circulation, regulation of financial institutions, and regulation of payment systems and settlements. The discipline includes the following topics:
Genesis of central banks
Specifics of the functioning of central banks
Fundamentals of monetary policy
Targeting money supply and exchange rate targeting
Inflation targeting
Fundamentals of macroprudential policy
The role of central banks in creating national payment systems
Oversight of payment systems
