Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: basics of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology. 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology. 3. Have basic skills in processing scientific literature, solving problems, working with materials and equipment used in the microbiological laboratory, the use of software.
Course content
The subject of the discipline is the phylogenetic relationships between microorganisms, their relationships with other phyla of the tree of life; methods and technologies for obtaining, comparing, analyzing, annotating gene and protein sequences; methods of phylogeny reconstruction based on individual sequences and whole genomes; molecular markers to establish bacterial phylogeny; horizontal gene transfer as a factor of species diversity of microorganisms; modern approaches to genome analysis and phylogeny reconstruction, characteristic of the post-omic era.
