PR05. Use knowledge and demonstrate compliance with the provisions of biological ethics, biological safety and biological protection.
PR08. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental biological processes, structure and functions of living organisms.
PR10. To establish regularities of interaction of living organisms of different forms of structural organization with each other, features of influence of various factors on living organisms and to estimate their role in biosphere processes of biotic transformation of substances and energy.
PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology.
PR19. Solve applied problems of biology by appropriate methods.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: basics of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics.
2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics.
3. Have basic skills in processing scientific literature, solving problems, working with materials and equipment used in the microbiological laboratory.
Course content
The subject of the discipline is microbiological processes in modern technologies of domestic and industrial wastewater treatment, the role of microorganisms in the process of wastewater treatment by biological methods, the variety of their metabolism and forms of existence in different types of treatment plants under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. xenobiotics and ways of their destruction, genetic potential of activated sludge bacteria and interaction of microorganisms in associations.
