PR04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the boundaries of subject areas.
PR05. Use knowledge and demonstrate compliance with the provisions of biological ethics, biological safety and biological protection.
PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology.
PR24.4. Based on information about the structural organization of the virus and the peculiarities of interaction with the cell, choose the best methods for its isolation, purification and concentration.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Mastering the rules of biological safety in the laboratories on which they are based
principles of organization of a modern virological laboratory.
2. Knowledge of modern principles of biological safety in the laboratory.
3. Knowledge of the levels of biological safety of laboratories according to international criteria.
4. Ability to apply approaches to biosafety in virology
laboratories.
5. Ability to use conceptual approaches to support in professional activities
biosafety.
6. Possess basic skills of targeted application of definitions of biorisk,
biosecurity, biosafety, biorisk management system.
7. Have bioethical approaches in the professional activities of a virologist; sanitary-epidemic rules of work in the virological laboratory.
Course content
The teaching of this discipline is aimed at mastering the basic issues of biosafety in the virology laboratory. It is important to form in future specialists an understanding of the principles of forecasting biorisks and biothreats when working with virological objects, safety rules in virological laboratories, modern principles of biological safety in laboratory conditions, national security of Ukraine, the Convention on Prohibition of Biological Weapons in Nonproliferation weapons of mass destruction. Factors influencing risks and determining the probability and consequences of influencing risks, categories of control measures, principles, technologies and practices implemented to prevent unintentional release and spread of pathogens and toxins, assessment of biological risk are considered in detail.
