Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic concepts of the scale of topographic maps, classification of maps, methods of representation on topographic maps of the earth's surface, coordinate systems for determining the position of points on the earth's surface, orientation angles, the mathematical basis of topographic maps, cartographic projections of thematic maps, methods of depicting objects on thematic maps .
2. To be able to measure geographical and rectangular coordinates on
topographic maps, measure absolute and relative heights, determine the plan coordinates of points on the terrain, determine the heights of points on the terrain, measure directional angles on topographic maps.
3. Possess elementary skills in using educational cartographic aids for teaching geography, solving scientific and practical problems based on them.
Course content
The educational discipline develops in close connection with the sciences of nature and society - with geography, geology, soil science, the knowledge of which contributes to a deeper understanding of the properties of the physical surface of the Earth, its correct display on maps. Methods of solving scientific and
practical tasks of topography are based on the laws of mathematics and physics.
The course consists of two main sections. The first is dedicated to the map as an object of the real world, its characteristic features, properties. Students master the use of the cartographic method of working with thematic ones
cards In the second, the main attention is paid to solving problems with the help of a topographic map (measurement of direct and reverse directional angles on a topographic map, calculation of orientation angles according to formula representations, determination of absolute and relative heights, terrain points).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, practical session, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
The discipline ends with an exam. Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which involves two levels
assessment of learned material, in particular assessment of theoretical training -
learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.6), which is 40% of the total assessment and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.6); (communication 3.1-3.3); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.3), which is
60% of the total grade.
