Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basics of the theory of the Earth's shape, methods of construction and used models of the Earth, principles of formation of reference systems, datum and spatial coordinate systems, relationships between the main coordinate systems, methods of solving basic geodetic problems in the spatial coordinate system, principles of creation, purpose, characteristics and parameters of the main earth geodetic reference systems, features of the creation of a national reference system, national geospatial databases, methods of construction of the state geodetic reference network; - Be able to perform transformations in spatial coordinate systems, solve basic geodetic problems in spatial coordinate systems. - Possess skills for solving scientific and practical problems, in particular, learn to systematically analyze the problems of higher geodesy and select the necessary mathematical methods.
Course content
Studying the course "Higher Geodesy" puts forward tasks to improve the theoretical and scientific training of students of geodetic and cartographic specialties, the introduction of geographic information systems and digital technologies into the practice of modern cartographic and geodetic works and the availability of powerful computer technology gave a new impetus to the theoretical and practical development of this discipline, and served for further development of the latest digital technologies and their implementation in the field of cartography, geodesy and land management. The discipline provides consolidation of theoretical knowledge and formation of practical skills in the use of methods of studying the shape and construction of Earth models, creation of modern geodetic reference systems, use of algorithms and software for processing the results of observations in global geodetic systems and databases for various purposes, creation of global, regional and reference state geodetic networks.
