Learning outcomes
They consist in improving the ability to communicate in a foreign language, understanding original specialized literature, forming the necessary communication skills in oral and written forms within the scope of the subject necessary for the future professional activity of the student. Achieving the set goal is facilitated by the use of the method of situation analysis during practical classes. The main forms of control of classroom and independent work of students are the preparation of presentations, reports, writing essays, business letters, performance of control tasks.

Course content
The study discipline "Foreign language (English)" for students of the Faculty of Geography is a component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the first (bachelor's) level of higher education. Discipline is a must. It is taught in the 1st and 2nd semesters of the 1st course in the amount of 420 hours. (14 ECTS credits) in particular: practical - 136 hours, independent work - 280 hours, consultations - 4 hours. The course includes 4 content modules and 4 modular tests. The discipline ends with a test in the first semester, and an exam in the second semester. In the VII semester, the discipline provides 30 hours. (1 ECTS credit) in particular: consultations – 15 hours, independent work – 15 hours. The discipline in the VII semester ends with an exam. The learning model has a modular, cyclical and thematic nature

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
1. Frontal / group and individual interview - 10 points / 6 points. 2. Written tasks for SRS (4 tasks) – 10 points / 6 points for each. 3. Modular test (2 tests) – 10 points / 6 points for each. 4. Presentation (3 presentations) – 10 points / 6 points for each. The semester grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of learning material from all subjects of the discipline and performing independent tasks. The maximum number of points that can be obtained during the semester is 100. The points received by the student during the semester make up 100% of the final grade in the discipline.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment in the 1st semester (in the form of credit) The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures for successful students. Final assessment in the II semester (in the form of a written and oral exam) The maximum number of points for completing exam tasks is 40. The exam consists of two parts: 1) completion of tasks to the text (20 points); 2) interview (20 points).
