Learning outcomes
5. To collect, organize and analyze information on cultural phenomena, events, historical and cultural processes. 6. To identify, verify and summarize information on various contexts of cultural practice, to determine the degree of their relevance using different sources, information, communication tools and visual technologies. 8. To interpret cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, tо reasonably present conclusions regarding their content. 10. To recognize and classify different types of cultural products, to determine their qualitative characteristics based on comprehensive analysis. 11. To carry out expert assessment of cultural objects according to the criteria set and to provide recommendations for their social actualization. 13. To present knowledge about culture according to the specialization of representatives of various professional groups and students.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before studying this course, students must know the basic stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; basic culturological theories and methods of culturological research. 2. Be able to collect and interpret information on cultural phenomena, cultural processes and events; identify current trends in the development of artistic and cultural phenomena; 3. Have basic skills in research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting in relation to cultural and artistic events and phenomena; use of foreign language professional culturological information sources.
Course content
The discipline acquaints students with the logic of the development of music and develops skills of theoretical understanding of its phenomena. The discipline generalizes and systematizes the idea of ​​music as an art form, its varieties, history and patterns of music of the ancient world, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, music culture XVII - first half of XVIII century, Baroque music, music culture of classicism (second half of XVIII), features of romanticism in music, musiс directions of XIX-XX centuries, the specifics of Ukrainian and Russian music, directions of music culture of the XX century. (ethnic music, jazz, rock music, pop music, techno, hip hop).

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentation, additions and participation in discussions at seminars: 21/60 points 2. Self-study: 12/20 points 3. Final test in writing - 12/20 points Final assessment in the form of credit: the final number of points in the course (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. Credit is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment activities.
