Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the basics of the electromagnetic theory of light: electromagnetic waves and the speed of their propagation; scale of electromagnetic waves; properties of electromagnetic radiation of various ranges. 2. Knowledge of the nature and characteristics of optical radiation: propagation of light, speed of light, reflection and laws of refraction, interference, diffraction, dispersion of light. 3. Ability to solve problems using functional dependencies between basic physical quantities (harmonic oscillations, wavelength, laws of geometric optics, interference and diffraction of light)
Course content
The goal of the discipline is the formation of basic knowledge about modern methods and means of obtaining data of remote sensing of the Earth; physical bases of recording and transmission of remote sensing information; acquiring the skills of processing space shooting materials and their interpretation through visual, statistical, attributive analysis of input data using automated methods and modern software; to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and information of DZZ in professional and social activities. The discipline "Fundamentals of remote sensing of the Earth" belongs to the list of mandatory ones. It is focused on mastering the modern theoretical and practical foundations of satellite survey data acquisition and processing. Basic information about the methods and means of obtaining space images of the Earth's surface are presented, the features of remote sensing materials - photographic, television, radar, etc. are analyzed. The discipline consists of two content modules.

Assessment methods and criteria
7.1. Forms of student evaluation: the level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of laboratory, independent, modular control tests and assessment. The specific weight of learning results in the final assessment, provided that it is mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: - semester assessment: 1. Modular control work 1: RN 1.1–1.4, 2.1, 2.2 – 10 points. 2. Modular control work 2: RN 1.5–1.6, 2.3 – 10 points. 3. Laboratory works: RN 1.4 – 4.1 – 30 points. 4. Independent work: grade 1.1 - 1.6 - 10 points. - final evaluation: in the form of credit
