Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines "Dangerous hydrological phenomena", "Hydrology of continents". To know the theoretical foundations of hydrography, general hydrology, hydrology of rivers. Possess elementary skills of hydrological and water balance calculations, statistical processing of hydrological series. To have methods of synthesis and analysis of information.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is for students to gain a systematic understanding of the features of the hydrography of mountain regions, the general characteristics of the water regime of mountain rivers, the river flow of mountain regions, its maximum and minimum characteristics, the thermal and ice regime of mountain rivers, solid flow and the manifestation of channel processes, the chemical composition of natural mountain waters regions, economic use of mountain rivers.
The educational discipline is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodical foundations of the hydrology of mountain regions of the world as a whole and of Ukraine, in particular in terms of the following main issues: morphometric characteristics of mountain watersheds and their river systems; peculiarities of the formation of the water balance in the mountains, changes in the components of the balance with height, conditions for the formation and passage of the main phases of the water regime in mountain rivers; peculiarities of formation of river sediment runoff in mountainous regions and their characteristics; manifestation of channel processes; formation and main phases of the thermal and ice regime of mountain rivers; peculiarities of formation of the chemical composition of their waters; the importance of rivers in mountainous regions to ensure the water consumption needs of the population and the economy.
The educational discipline "Hydrology of mountain regions" is a component of the comprehensive training of specialists of the educational and qualification level "master" of the educational program "Hydrology and integrated management of water resources" specialty 103 "Earth sciences".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical work, independent work, defenses of independently completed practical work, modular control work, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points.
