Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the courses "Meteorology", "Atmospheric Physics", "Climatology", "Biometeorology", "Ecological Climatology". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations and methodological approaches to assessing the impact of weather and climatic conditions on the human environment and its production activities, knowledge of the principles and methods of using meteorological and climatic information to solve applied problems in production and non-production spheres.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of risks of human activity caused by the impact of adverse and natural hydrometeorological conditions and phenomena against the background of modern climate change. Methods for assessing the vulnerability of objects (risk recipients) in the sectors of the economy that are particularly exposed to adverse hydrometeorological conditions and phenomena (on the example of agriculture, urban agriculture, energy) are studied, and ways to determine the acceptability of climate risks are considered for them. The methods of identification and assessment of weather and climate risks on economic, environmental and social grounds are studied on specific examples. The principles of climate risk management, modern approaches to insurance of weather and climate risks (on the example of the agricultural sector), the possibility of taking into account information on weather and climate risks for solving problems of geoplanning, spatial planning, monitoring of regional development, drawing up strategic plans and programs are considered. Structurally, the discipline consists of two content modules.
