Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of compulsory disciplines studied at the Department of Meteorology and Climatology - atmospheric physics, climatology, synoptic meteorology, regional synoptic processes. 2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of atmospheric physics, aerodynamics, physical geography, the ability to establish cause and effect relationships between phenomena and processes occurring in the natural environment. 3. Knowledge of methods of synthesis and analysis of information.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of atmospheric processes and weather forecasting for aviation, with the formation of knowledge necessary for students to work in scientific and production units. The course consists of two content modules. The first one is devoted to the study of the history of aviation, the organization of meteorological support of aviation on the example of international airports of Ukraine, methods of observation of meteorological quantities and phenomena at airfields, methods of encoding and transmission of meteorological information, the second section deals with the influence of the physical state of the atmosphere on aircraft flights, dangerous meteorological phenomena for aviation and their forecast, methods of analysis and weather forecasting, especially over-short-term forecasts, are studied in order to use the obtained data.

Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out by a module-rating system. The maximum score is 100 points, 60 of which the student can gain during the semester control and 40 points - at the exam. The content module 1 (CM1) includes topics 1-4, the content module 2 (CM2) - topics 6-12. The exam requires knowledge of basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of aerodynamics / aviation meteorology and on the border of subject areas, the ability to encode meteorological information and know the methods of making short-term forecasts of individual meteorological quantities and phenomena.
