            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques, principles of intercultural management in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 11. To carry out a scientific analysis of language, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Students are expected to have a high-intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in the English language. They should be familiar with the basic concepts of lexicology, stylistics, and translation studies.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The aim of the discipline is to develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills in translation based on a cultural approach to translation, broaden students' worldview, and familiarize them with communicative strategies for successful communication in the translator's work. The course involves in-depth study of vocabulary and stylistics of the English language and its cultural peculiarities based on textual materials of various genres, which include specific grammatical, lexical-stylistic, and translation tasks. The thematic content of the texts covers politics, economy, science, culture, and art of English-speaking countries. The program encompasses a comprehensive approach to language teaching, where all aspects of the language are taught in parallel with the development of students' speaking, translation, and academic skills.

            Responses during practical sessions, preparation of written assignments, and examinations are used for assessment in the course.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester assessment: Total points during the semester: maximum 60 points / minimum 36 points. Response during practical sessions: Learning outcomes 1.1, 1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1 - maximum 26 points / minimum 16 points. Preparation of written assignments: Learning outcomes 1.4, 2.2, 2.5, 3.2 - maximum 26 points / minimum 16 points. Examinations (2): Learning outcomes 1.2-1.4, 2.5, 2.6, 4.1 - maximum 8 points / minimum 4 points. Final assessment in the form of an exam after the 10th semester: Written translation of a text (from English to Ukrainian) - maximum 20 points / minimum 12 points. Oral discussion on a given topic - 20 points / minimum 12 points. The maximum number of points for the exam is 40 points, and the minimum number of points is 24 points.
