            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques, principles of intercultural management in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Students should be familiar with the basics of general translation theory and the forms of practical implementation of specialized and literary translation as a means of intercultural communication. They should be able to: Create oral and written texts of various types and genres in their native and first foreign languages. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret linguistic data that include texts of different types and genres. Possess: German language proficiency at a level no lower than C1 (autonomous user) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Written mediation from the first foreign language to the native language at a level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Written mediation from the native language to the foreign language at a level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The aim of the discipline is the integrative development of students' language knowledge and speaking skills to a level of competent use of the German language (C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in a wide range of communicative situations in private, public, and professional life, with a focus on pragmatic and intercultural competence as professional competencies of the specialization. Integral and general competencies of students are further developed within the discipline. The discipline ensures the deepening of students' professional competence in practical mastery of the first foreign language (German) and the completion of the formation of their language skills and speaking abilities in all five types of language activities in German (listening, reading, speaking, writing, mediation).

            Oral response, participation in group discussions during practical sessions, tests, presentations, module assignments are used for assessment in the discipline.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Oral response, participation in group discussions during practical sessions, tests: Learning outcomes 1.1-1.6, 2.1-2.2, 3.1 – 36/60 points. Presentation: Learning outcomes 3.2, 4.1 – 12/20 points (maximum 10 points for preparation + maximum 10 points for defense). Module assessment: Learning outcomes 1.1-1.4, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 – 12/20 points. Overall assessment: Examination in oral and written form: Learning outcomes 1.1-1.2, 1.5, 1.6, 2.2, 3.1 – 24/40 points. The final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) is determined by the sum of points from the semester work (minimum 36, maximum 60 points) and the final examination (minimum 24, maximum 40 points).
