Learning outcomes
PR01. To analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects of the Earth's geospheres.
PR02. Apply your knowledge to identify and solve problematic issues and make informed decisions in the Earth sciences.
PR05. Plan and carry out scientific experiments, write scientific papers by specialty.
PR07. To know the modern methods of research of the Earth and its geospheres and to be able to apply them in production and research activities.
PR10. Demonstrate the ability to adapt and act in a new situation related to work in the field, the ability to generate new ideas in the field of Earth sciences.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of a bachelor's degree in earth sciences; geodesy and land management, geography; be able to work with the electronic database of geographical names.
Course content
Providing knowledge on the scientific foundations of cartographic toponymy and forming practical skills of applied studies of cartographic toponymy.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The program of the academic discipline consists of the following content modules:
1. Theoretical and methodological principles of cartographic toponymy (concept, object, subject of research, classification, etymology of geographical names);
2. Methods of reproduction of foreign geographical names in Ukrainian and transmission of geographical names of Ukraine in Latin;
3. Toponymic cartographic works in Ukraine and the world.
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms and organization of assessment: current (semester) assessment (abstracts (minimum grade 24, maximum 40; test papers (6-20); independent work (5-20)); final (final) assessment in the form of credit (assessment for knowledge of theory (minimum 12, maximum 40 points).
For students who scored a total of less points than the critical-calculated minimum - 35 points, in order to be admitted to the final control form, it is necessary to pass an additionally completed individual complex task.
