PR05. Demonstrate skills in assessing unforeseen biological problems and making informed choices PR06. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, ecology, mathematics in the process of learning and ensuring professional activity. PR08. Know and understand the basic terms, concepts, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the borders of subject areas. PR19. Apply in practice methods for determining the structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization. PR20. Argue the choice of methods, algorithms for planning and conducting field, laboratory, clinical and laboratory research, including mathematical methods and software for research, processing and presentation of results.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge about the structure and functional properties of proteins and nucleic acids. 3. Have an understanding of spectral approaches to the study of chemical compounds.
Course content
This discipline includes the study of the chemical composition of living organisms, familiarity with the basic concepts of chemistry of complex metal compounds, the impact of the latter on the functioning of organic life, the stability of complexes in the environment, the interaction of metal ions with biologically important molecules and their consequences.
