Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Botany" "Plant Physiology and Biochemistry", "Virology", "Phytopathology". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of physiology and biochemistry of plants, phytopathology, etc. disciplines, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Possess basic skills in working with electron microscopic images of phytoviruses and their components, analyze their changes in viral infections.
Course content
Viral plant diseases are widespread and cause great economic damage to the national economy. The introduction of intensive technologies for growing plants, new varieties and hybrids, active exchange and movement of seeds and planting material contribute to the spread of viral infections and induce changes in the species composition of phytoviruses. Phytovirology is the science that studies viruses that infect plants, symptoms in infected objects, methods of diagnosing and identifying phytoviruses, ways of transmitting plant viruses, changes in plant metabolism, types of resistance and their mechanisms, and develops ways to prevent and control viral diseases.
