Learning outcomes
PLO1. Freely communicate on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in state and foreign languages in oral and in written form, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO9. Characterize the dialect and social varieties of modern Greek and English, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO10. Know the norms of literary language and be able to apply them in practice. PRN11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in state and foreign languages. PRN15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
successful mastering of the disciplines "Introduction to Translation Studies", "Modern Greek: Introductory Course", "Modern Greek: Theoretical and Practical Phonetics"; knowledge of general information about the translation process, the task of the translator, the peculiarities of the creation of secondary texts, the basics of modern Greek grammar, the lexical minimum within the A1 level; knowledge of modern Greek at the level of competencies A1-A1 +.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is the initial training of translation specialists who would have practical skills of translation of different styles of texts, formation of students' translation competence, namely skills and abilities to perform equivalent translation of adapted and original texts from modern Greek into Ukrainian. The discipline "Practice of translation from the first language: for intercultural communication" consists of two parts. The first one focuses on the practical elaboration of adapted literary texts on the topic of environment and social relations. The second one is devoted to work with adapted literary texts on historical and socio-cultural topics. Didactic material involves a gradual increase in the complexity and originality of texts, it is adapted to the development of levels of language proficiency and competence of the student audience.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study consist of practical trainings, consultations and students’ self-study. Teaching methods include answers at the practical classess, report, extra answer / participation in the discussion, self-study work (essay, analytical task, presentation of the project), test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire course. The general assessment for the semester consists of points obtained for classroom work (which synthesizes independent work on the development of theoretical material to prepare for classroom: oral answers, tests) and for independent work (home translations, works). The final grade is conducted in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam - 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive grade), which are added to the semester - 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the exam). The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of performing the declared types and forms of study, and the points obtained at the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam)
