Learning outcomes
PR04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the boundaries of subject areas. PR07. Demonstrate knowledge of the structural organization of biological systems at the molecular level of the organization. PR14. Use knowledge and understanding of the basics of general ecology, the principles of optimal nature management and nature protection. PR16. Choose methods, algorithms for planning and conducting field, laboratory, clinical and laboratory research, including mathematical methods and software for research, processing and presentation of results. PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology. PR21. Solve applied problems of biology appropriate methods. PR24.3. Conduct basic research in the fields of plant protection, plant geography, botanical resource science.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Botany", "Fundamentals of Ecology and Nature Conservation", "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Plant Physiology". 2. Ability to independently apply knowledge of botany, plant physiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, etc. academic disciplines to solve specific scientific and practical problems; work with scientific and scientific-methodical literature. 3. Possession of basic skills in working with literature, documents, materials and equipment used in biological and environmental laboratories.
Course content
The discipline "Biology of Medicinal Plants" covers the following issues: features of the accumulation of medicinal substances in plants; the dependence of the physiological action of the herbal preparation on its chemical composition; plants used for the treatment and prevention of diseases, strengthening mental and physical performance, treatment diseases of the digestive, respiratory, nervous, endocrine and cardiovascular systems; plants that have antibacterial, antiviral, fungicidal, insecticidal action; plants rich in vitamins, oils, bitters, antidiabetic action, poisonous plants and first aid to victims of poisonous plants; regulation of terms and methods of collection, procurement and storage of medicinal raw materials.
