Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate fluently on professional topics with specialists and non-
specialists in the state and New Greek languages in oral and written form, use
them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 3. Organize the process of learning and self-education.
PLO 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in
practice.
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and
written texts of various genres and styles in the state and New Greek languages.
PLO 14. To use the New Greek language in oral and written form, in various
genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral),
to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional,
scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who have at least A1 level of Greek.
Students must know the vocabulary and grammar required for A1 level; be able
to carry on a conversation on the lexical topics covered; express themselves in
writing on the topics covered; understand monologue and dialogic speech within
the relevant lexical topics; translate texts from New Greek into Ukrainian and
from Ukrainian into New Greek containing the lexical and grammatical material
covered; be able to use reference books and electronic sources
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to train highly qualified specialists in Modern Greek
Philology. The course is designed to develop students linguistic and
methodological skills necessary for a future foreign language teacher, broaden
their horizons, and improve their scientific, theoretical and methodological
qualifications. The dominant method of teaching the course is the
communicative method, which involves students in all kinds of speech activities
and promotes the disclosure of their creative abilities. The course consists of
three content modules. The first module Work and Health covers vocabulary
topics related to employment and medicine. The second module, Basic
Services, introduces students to the work of the police, post office and banks.
The third module, Living in the City covers topics related to renting a house,
living together, and traffic problems. The course is taught in the form of
practical classes and independent work. The course ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities during the semester:
dialogues and discussions, listening, translation (interpretation), vocabulary and
grammar tests in practical classes; writing and translation (written) during
independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the maximum number of points during the semester is 60
points:
Lexical and grammatical test: SL 1.1-1.2 - 20 points
Listening test: LO 2.3 - 8 points
Translation: LO 2.4 - 10 points
Dialogues/Discussion: SLOs 1.1-1.2, 2.1, 2.3, 3.1, 4.1 - 12 points
Writing a composition: SLO 2.2, 4.2 - 10 points
Final assessment in the form of an exam:
The maximum number of points in the exam is 40 points;
the following learning outcomes are assessed at the exam: ミ」ミ 1.1-1.2; ミ」ミ 2.1,
2.4; ミ」ミ 3.1, ミ」ミ 4.2
The exam is conducted in a mixed form and consists of three tasks:
1) Written presentation of a grammatical question; 2) Written linguistic analysis
of an unknown Greek-language text on the topic covered and translation of an
excerpt; 3) Interview on one of the lexical topics covered.
Conditions of admission to the final exam:
Students who score less than the critical-calculated minimum of 36 points are
not allowed to take the exam.
