Learning outcomes
Such students’ academic achievements as: knowledge of stages of development, forms of manifestation and determinants of organized crime in Ukraine and the world, concepts and features of organized crime and organized criminal groups; the content of organizational and legal principles of policy in the field of combating organized crime, the system of national measures and international experience in this field. Skills: to analyze and evaluate the content of scientific concepts on the nature of organized crime and the practice of combating it; to evaluate national legislation governing the fight against organized crime, identify systemic links with international law; to estimate the effectiveness of the system of preventive measures; to bring arguments and ideas for improving the legal framework and activities of the subjects of combating organized crime. Apply the acquired knowledge and skills in professional, research and teaching activities.

Course content
The course includes the phenomenon of organized crime, criminological and legal principles of combating it. Targeted on: gaining knowledge on the nature, causes and characteristics of organized crime and practical problems of combating it in Ukraine and over the world, the characteristics of organized crime groups and their types; understanding of the peculiarities of the regulation of the sphere of combating organized crime in both national and international legislation; acquiring the ability to critically estimate the condition and project the development of state policy in the field of combating organized crime, to develop their own practical approaches and recommendations for solving common law, criminal law and criminal enforcement problems of such counteraction; be able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in conducting research.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching strategies: lecture; seminar; presentation of research materials; online consultation; test. Teaching and learning methods: educational, thematic discussion; method of determining and defending a given advice, comparing alternative positions; to work with normative-legal acts and materials of law-enforcement practice, case-method; analysis of specific legal situations, solving problems, performing practical tasks; analysis of statistical information; independent work of a student; research work for the preparation of thematic scientific reports.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final score includes the sum of points obtained during the semester assessment (up to 40 points) and points obtained for the final test (up to 60 points). It consists of four components: including the results of thematic discussion and the survey at lectures and seminars, performance of current practical tasks and final test, writing of the thematic scientific report and presentation of its materials. Forms of ongoing evaluation and specific criteria for evaluating the results of their implementation are determined under the study program of the course. The form of final assessment is a test. The test is conducted in the form of a written test, which includes two practical tasks: a) analysis and legal assessment of a specific criminal situation (up to 30 points); b) formation of the list of the basic measures of counteraction to separate kinds of organized criminal activity (to 30 points).
