Learning outcomes
The student should know: the concept of culture and its ambiguity, the main functions of culture, the morphology of culture, the basics of periodization of culture; mythology as the historically first form of worldview; periodization of medieval culture. The role of Christianity in the development of Medieval culture; formation of university education and science in the Middle Ages; Kyivan Rus as a sociocultural system; periodization and general characteristics of the Renaissance.; prerequisites for the formation of baroque art; fBaroque phenomenon; sociocultural transformations of the European world in the 19th century; the spiritual situation of the 20th and early 21st centuries. ; modern and postmodern; Ukrainian art of the 20th century.
The student must be able to: independently work with various literary sources and critically analyze the developed theoretical material, publicly present the results of independent research.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before studying the discipline "Ukrainian and foreign culture", it is necessary to obtain a full secondary education and possess elementary skills of critical interpretation of information about cultural processes and events.
Course content
The discipline "Ukrainian and foreign culture" introduces students to the main trends in the development of Ukrainian and foreign culture, reveals the place and role of Ukrainian cultural heritage in the world process, highlights the peculiarities of the formation of Ukrainian identity and the uniqueness of Ukrainian cultural heritage. Mastering the discipline gives students the opportunity to get acquainted with the worldview and socio-cultural prerequisites of the historical and cultural progress of mankind, the main artistic trends and figures that determined the cultural progress of mankind, the value and worldview foundations of the development of society in different historical periods. Considerable importance is attached to the comprehensive study of Ukrainian culture in an inextricable connection with the cultural heritage of foreign countries throughout world history.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level evaluation of the learned material, in particular, evaluation of theoretical training. which is 40% of the total grade and the assessment of practical training, which is 60% of the total grade.
The final grade from the educational component, the final form of control for which credit is established, is defined as the sum of grades (points) for all successfully assessed learning outcomes. Scores below the minimum threshold level are not added to the final score. Successful completion of all assessment forms (at least 50% of the maximum possible number of points for each) is mandatory for receiving a positive final grade (60 points and above and "passed"). It is not allowed to retake the semester control in order to improve a positive grade.
