Learning outcomes
- Types of sedimentation basins - Elements of oil and gas bearing complexes and hydrocarbon systems - Determination of rock age and stratigraphy - Facial analysis, reconstruction of sedimentation conditions Study of secondary transformations of rocks - Tectonic evolution of basins - Analysis of seismic data - Tectonic evolution of basins - Identification of oil and gas prospects - Stratiform ore deposits - Predicting of deep geothermal energy sources
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the disciplines of the general geological cycle, as well as geophysics and petroleum geology. 2. Have the skills to analyze and summarize geological and geophysical information, work with databases and other data sources
Course content
Oil and gas complexes and hydrocarbon systems, their location in sedimentary basins of different types are considered. Approaches to the reconstruction of sedimentation conditions and diagenetic alterations of rocks are described, methods of determining their age are characterized. The importance of basin analysis for the study of geological and thermal history of sedimentary basins and the leading role of the seismic method for the identification of prospects is emphasized. Unconventional hydrocarbon fields, stratiform deposits and deep geothermal energy are included

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), independent practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems without limiting tools and techniques for solving the problem) and conducting 2 written modular tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an oral test
