Learning outcomes
- acquaintance with the terminological apparatus of electrometry; - knowledge of the basics of physical and geological electrometric research; - acquisition by students of skills of work with the equipment and a technique of measurements of electric and electromagnetic fields; - gaining practical skills of electrometric research; - mastering by students of necessary methodological knowledge on qualitative and quantitative interpretation of experimental electric and electromagnetic data on direct and alternating currents; - conducting electromagnetic research for geological, engineering and environmental problems.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of geophysics. 2. Have the skills to work with a personal computer.
Course content
The program of the discipline focuses on the analysis of electric and electromagnetic fields on direct and alternating current, as well as computer principles of processing and interpretation of observed data. Approaches to solving direct and inverse problems of electrometry are considered. Techniques of qualitative and quantitative interpretation are studied, which are explained by real examples. The areas of application of electrometry are characterized and the development of the method in the historical aspect is described. The geological bases of electrometric methods, the basic provisions of modern methods of processing and interpretation of electrometric research data are included in the consideration.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes and independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: performance of practical and independent work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher). Assessment in the 5th semester involves an intermediate control, which is set based on the student's work throughout the semester, as the sum (simple or weighted) points for systematic work during the 5th semester, and 4 written modular tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam.
