            PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of classical and a foreign language, describe the sociolinguistic situation.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, classical and a foreign language.
PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.
PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            1) successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Ancient mythology and modernity", "Ancient Greek language", "Latin language", "History of Ancient Greece and Rome", "Culture of Ancient Greece and Rome (in ancient Greek and Latin texts)";
2) knowledge of the theoretical and practical foundations of the discipline, knowledge of general linguistic concepts, general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, the basic volume of ancient Greek mythology, the basics of grammar and syntax of Latin and ancient Greek languages;
3) posession of basic abilities and skills of analysis and interpretation of texts, taking into account the peculiarities of time and era.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The course is designed to introduce students to the most important types of historical sources - inscriptions and manuscripts and to establish their linguosemiotic features. It consists of two substantive parts, which cover the following main problems: the subject and tasks of epigraphy. The history of epigraphy as a science; the history of Greek writing; main types of Greek inscriptions; Greek inscriptions of Ukraine; the history of the development of Latin epigraphy; the origin of the Latin alphabet; classification of Latin inscriptions; Latin inscriptions of Ukraine; the history of the development of Greek paleography; the history of the development of Latin paleography; writing materials and tools; development of Greek writing; the development of Latin writing.

            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level evaluation: the evaluation of theoretical training, which makes up 40% of the total grade, and the evaluation of practical training, which makes up 60% of the total grade.
Assessment of semester work: 1. Oral answer in practical classes: 1.1-1.12; 2.1-2.3; 3.1-3.3; 4.1, 4.4– 12/20 points. 2. Report with presentation: 1.1-1.12; 2.2-2.3; 3.1-3.2; 4.1-4.3– 12/20 points. 3. Tests: 1.1-1.12– 12/20 points. All types of work for the semester have a total of: 60 b. (max.), 36 b. (min.).
Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40, the minimum number of points (positive evaluation), which are added to the semester ones, is 24 points).
