Learning outcomes
То иnderstand the relationship between the structure and properties of substances. Ability to use acquired knowledge and skills for calculations, mapping and modeling of chemical systems and processes, processing of experimental data. То work alone or in a group, get results within a limited time with an emphasis on professional integrity and scientific integrity. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic facts, concepts, principles and theories in chemistry. To interpret experimentally obtained data and correlate them with relevant theories in chemistry.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
This course is based on knowledge of general courses in inorganic, organic, analytical, physical chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Course content
Colloid chemistry - the science of surface phenomena and dispersed systems. The main types of classification of dispersed systems are studied, information on methods of extracting dispersed systems is provided. Optical and molecular kinetic properties of dispersed systems are considered. The main section of the course is the section on surface phenomena and adsorption. The phenomena of adhesion, cohesion, wetting, adsorption and surfactant properties are considered. Much attention is paid to the mechanisms of formation and structure of PES. Theories of PES structure, electrosurface phenomena in dispersed systems are considered. Assimilation of these concepts is necessary for the subsequent study of the aggregative stability of dispersed systems.
