Learning outcomes
PLO 3 Apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for the successful and effective implementation of professional activities and ensuring the quality of scientific research in the field of Turkish philology. PLO 14 Create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres. PLO 16 Use specialized conceptual knowledge of Turkish philology to solve complex problems and tasks that require updating and integrating knowledge, often in conditions of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements. PLO 19 Possess the necessary knowledge and skills to provide translation from Turkish into Ukrainian or English and vice versa at various stages of the judicial process, during conferences of various professional orientations and in other areas and fields of activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to taking this course, students must have successfully completed their bachelor's degree program and have knowledge of translation theory, know the phonetic laws, common and terminological vocabulary, grammatical structures and syntax rules of the Turkish language; have oral and written translation skills.
Course content
The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the main problems of translating scientific and technical literature, to develop skills and abilities of written and oral scientific and technical translation from Turkish into Ukrainian and vice versa. Students get acquainted with the types of translation of scientific and technical texts (full written, abstract, annotation, selective consulting translation, consecutive and simultaneous translation). The specific use of lexical items in scientific and technical texts is analyzed. Special attention is paid to lexical and semantic transformations in translation and grammatical features of scientific and technical texts. Students learn to translate and interpret scientific and technical texts, educational scientific and technical texts, popular science literature in various fields of technology; technical and accompanying documentation, design and patent documentation; they also learn consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of TV news, reports and advertisements on scientific and technical topics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Oral answers, additions, participation in discussions during practical classes, blitz surveys, tests, translation homework, independent work with dictionaries, text corpora, and videos from the Internet.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills); (communication); (autonomy and responsibility), which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: Oral responses in practical classes, supplementary materials, blitz surveys, tests, translation homework, independent work with dictionaries, text corpora, and videos from the Internet. Final assessment: written and oral examination. The final grade in the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for semester work (minimum 37, maximum 60 points) and the exam (minimum 24, maximum 40 points).
