            - Know and understand modern methods of research, organization and planning of experiments, computerized methods of research and processing of measurement results - Be able to plan and conduct experimental studies of structural, optical and electrophysical properties of organic (including biological and nanoobjects) and inorganic environments - Carry out the design and construction of optical and optoelectronic devices and systems, devices for spectral research.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            1. Know the basics of quantum mechanics, the basic concepts of semiconductor physics, the principles of solid state theory.
2. To be able to use methods of semiconductor physics, optics, quantum mechanics, experimental and theoretical methods of research of physical properties of metals, dielectrics and semiconductors.
3. Have basic skills in studying the optical properties of solids.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The course is devoted to the study of optical properties of semiconductors and physical processes underlying the methods of optical diagnostics. The electronic spectrum, absorption and emission of light by semiconductors are considered. The study of the discipline involves acquaintance with the latest methods of diagnostics of nanostructures and control of optical properties of semiconductor materials.
The program of the discipline consists of two content modules:
1. Absorption and radiation of light  semiconductor nanostructures, phonon processes in semiconductors, independent study of descriptive material specified by the lecturer.
2. Optical methods of diagnostics and analysis of semiconductors, in particular spectroscopy of reflection, absorption and photoluminescence, Raman scattering, spectral ellipsometry, photoelectron spectroscopy, kinetic methods of diagnostics of semiconductors. Independent study of the descriptive material specified by the lecturer is provided.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Teaching methods: lectures, laboratory, weekly control of previous material by answering a specific number of questions,
modular test work.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester assessment:
1. Modular test 1 (10 points).
2. Modular test 2 (10 points).
2. Reports on laboratory work performed (20 points).
3. Abstract (5).
4. Survey during the lecture (5 points).
5. Independent work (10 points).
Final assessment in the form of an exam: a maximum of 40 points can be obtained in the exam.
