Prerequisites and co-requisites
The applicant must first master the following disciplines volume of teaching at the physical faculties of classical universities: • General Physics. Optics. • General Physics. Atomic physics. • Theoretical physics. Quantum mechanics. • Special course. Quantum electronics and physics of lasers. • Special course. Nonlinear optics. • Special course. Spectroscopy of atoms and molecules.
Course content
The special course examines the physical foundations and modern achievements laser physics and spectroscopy. The curriculum consists of three sections (topics): Topic 1. High resolution laser spectroscopy. Topic 2. Coherent laser spectroscopy. Topic 3. Multiphoton and cascade processes. The topics correspond to three content modules: - module 1 - topic 1; - module 2 - topic 2; - module 3 - topic 3.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods: lectures, laboratory work, consultations. Methods evaluation: modular tests, abstracts, performance monitoring laboratory work, credit for laboratory work, exam. Final the grade is set on the basis of intermediate grades of modular control (40%) and exam (60%).
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 1. Modular test (6 points - 10 points). 2. Modular test 2 (6 points - 10 points). Final assessment in the form of an exam (36 points - 60 points). A student is not admitted to the exam if he / she scored during the semester less than 24 points. The grade for the exam cannot be less than 36 points for obtaining an overall positive assessment for the course.
