Learning outcomes
- Be able to find reasonable solutions when compiling structural, functional and schematic diagrams of information and measuring equipment - Be able to establish a rational nomenclature of metrological characteristics of measuring instruments to obtain measurement results with a given accuracy - Know the standards of metrology, measuring instruments and metrological quality assurance - Fluent in the terminological base of the specialty, understand the scientific and technical documentation of the state metrological system of Ukraine, international and interstate recommendations and guidelines for the specialty - Have basic skills of theoretical and / or experimental research in the field of optics, laser physics and optoelectronics, performed individually and as part of a research group.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basics of quantum mechanics and its application to describe the interaction of light with media and their optical properties, the basic concepts of symmetry theory to describe the atomic-electronic structure of crystals, the principles of solid state theory regarding the amorphous state of matter 2. Be able to apply thin mirror layers of metals in vacuum on optical glass, measure luminescence spectra, find spectral ellipsometric parameters of surface layers of semiconductor and metal structures, angular dependences of these parameters in plasma excitation of heterostructures. 3. Have basic skills in choosing optical materials to create elements of precision devices and optics.
Course content
"Optical materials science and technology of optical instrumentation" includes the study of sections: general characteristics of materials for the manufacture of optical system elements, types of optical materials, optical and quartz glass, electro-optical and acousto-optical crystals and their use in optoelectronic devices, nanocrystalline structures for recording and reproducing information

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Tasks: - acquaintance of students with optical materials and their functional properties, work with optical materials. Acquaintance with modern technological processes of obtaining various continuous and layered optical materials, their electronic and absorption properties and methods of surface treatment of materials to improve the performance in optics devices. Training takes place in the form of lectures, practical classes and independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms of student assessment: - semester assessment: 1. Modular test 1: 5 points 2. Modular test 2: 5 points 3. Practical works (6 works): - 5 points for each - final assessment in the form of an exam: - 60 points
