Learning outcomes
- Be able to find reasonable solutions for structural, functional and schematic diagrams of information and measuring equipment - Know and understand modern theoretical and experimental research methods to assess the accuracy of the results - Understand the relationship of optics, laser physics and metrology with other natural and engineering sciences , to be acquainted with some basic concepts of applied physics, materials science, engineering, as well as with certain objects (technological processes) and natural phenomena that are the subject of research in other sciences.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic physical phenomena that accompany the interaction of optical radiation with various media and their nature (you need to have a thorough knowledge of general physics (optics)). 2. Be able to perform calculations for simple optical elements, be able to calculate the corresponding distortions of the image of such elements and minimize these distortions. 3. Have basic skills in such disciplines as analytical geometry, mathematical analysis, differential equations.
Course content
"Geometric theory of optical images" includes the study of sections: basics of the theory of ideal optical elements (mirrors, lenses, prisms), basic relations for ideal centered optical systems, basics of the theory of aberrations of optical systems, theory for real optical devices.

Teaching methods: lectures, weekly control of previous material by answering a specific number of questions, modular test work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 1. Modular test 1: 15 points; 2. Modular test 2: 15 points; 3. Modular test 3: 15 points; 4. Modular test 4: 15 points. Final evaluation in the form of a test: - 60 points
