Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To work with information effectively: to select necessary information from different sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases; to analyze and interpret it critically; to arrange it and make proper classification and systematization. PLO 7. To understand major problems of philology and approaches to their solution with the use of relevant methods, in particular, innovative interdisciplinary approaches of applied (computational) linguistics and information technologies; to explain their interrelation in the integrated system of interdisciplinary knowledge. PLO 15, 16, 17.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. General knowledge of the subjects "The Ukrainian language", "Mathematics", and "Informatics", which are taught in a secondary school. 2. Knowledge at the level of the school curriculum. 3. Having elementary skills in text abstracting.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to acquaint students with the current directions of modern applied linguistics, with the theoretical foundations, methods, and terminological apparatus of applied linguistics. The discipline is aimed at considering the current directions of applied linguistics, the connection with other scientific disciplines, and basic knowledge in the field of the structural description of languages ​​(by levels); getting acquainted with linguistic methods and their role in the formation of the methodology of computer modeling of linguistic phenomena.

The leading approaches in the organization of training are scientific-practical and problem-oriented.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of work and the form of the counter. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work during the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points (60), receive - "Passed". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points (60), receive - "Failed". Students who scored a total of fewer than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent and laboratory works, essays, or, if necessary, writing a test.
