Learning outcomes
Determination of optical characteristics of lenses. Measurement with a microscope. Study of light dispersion in the glass. Investigation of the anisotropy of a point light source. Absorption analysis using a universal photometer. Determination of the concentration of solutions by refractometer. Investigation of Fresnel interference and diffraction. Determination of the radius of curvature of the lens and the wavelength of light. Determination of wavelength using a Fresnel prism. Investigation of polished surfaces using a Linnick micro interferometer. Determination of optical characteristics of the diffraction grating and wavelength of light. Determination of molecular polarization coefficient and air refractive index using an interferometer. Investigation of optical activity of aqueous sugar solution. Determination of the refractive index of dielectric plates. Fraunhofer diffraction study on a reflective phase diffraction grating. Use of a helium-neon laser to observe diffraction.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know the basic laws of thermodynamics and nuclear physics, the basics of error theory, and data processing.
The student must be able to:
apply previous knowledge on the presentation of experimental data, rules for calculating measurement errors, calculation of derivatives, and integrals, and be able to graphically construct experimentally obtained dependences. Have basic skills in working with measuring instruments; searching and analysis of tabular data, working with software for data processing, and group work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is conducted during the semester, after the performance and defense of laboratory work. To enroll in laboratory work, the student must submit a written report on the relevant laboratory work, which must contain the original experimental data, calculations - the formula and result of calculating the required value, errors, relevant graphs, conclusions about measurement methods, and obtained results, answer the basic questions on the topic of work. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a differentiated test. The student can receive a maximum of 100 points. To get a credit you must score at least 60 points.
