Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate fluently in official and foreign languages (English, French / Spanish) on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists both orally and in the written form; to use the languages effectively for cross-cultural communication. PLO 8. To know the systemic characteristics of the Ukrainian and English languages, structural and systemic organization of the written and oral texts as a verbal communication mechanism; to know the general properties of literature as an art of word and be able to use this knowledge in professional activity. PLO 9. To characterize dialect and social varieties of the Ukrainian language and describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 15, 20.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who, during the first semester, studied linguistic disciplines and successfully mastered the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, vocabulary, phraseology, and phonetics of the Ukrainian language and its lexical and orthographic norms. The student must have the appropriate level of training, know: basic linguistic terms; principles of linguistic analysis; lexical and orthographic norms of the Ukrainian language; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice; to have elementary skills in analysis and explanation of speech and speech phenomena; be able to work with reference sources and communicate on linguistic topics.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the fundamental concepts of Ukrainian dialectology, the interaction of the main forms of existence of the Ukrainian language (literary and dialectal), to provide knowledge about the systemic and structural features of the main dialects of the Ukrainian language, methods of their fixation and analysis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: lecture, seminar class, practical class, independent work. Activities: oral answer, written answer, abstract, report, presentation, recording of dialect speech, final control task.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is credit. According to the types of work, a student can score the following number of points: oral answer - 0-5; written work (text analysis) - 0-5; abstract, report, presentation - 0-10 points; recording of dialect speech - from 0 to 10 points. final control task - 0-20. The credit score is formed as the sum of all points scored during the semester: 0-59 –Failed, 60-100 Passed.
