Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should know: basic concepts of translation studies, linguistics, communication theory; principles and methods of linguistic and stylistic analysis and translation analysis of texts; peculiarities of semantics, structure and functioning of units of all levels of the Italian language; lexical-semantic and structural-grammatical characteristics of the Italian and Ukrainian languages; be able to: consciously determine the genre and style of the text for translation; apply in practice the acquired knowledge of the principles of translation from the Italian language; work with lexicographic sources; formulate thoughts in the Ukrainian literary language; apply background knowledge in practice; to have basic skills of selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts; work with modern information technologies; to adapt and withstand stress in a new situation.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the communicative, pragmatic, neurophysiological and linguistic and stylistic features of simultaneous translation, to train the skills of simultaneous translation of social and political texts of oral genres from the voice of the teacher and spoken by native speakers, self-training and self-improvement in the technique of simultaneous translation. Students familiarize themselves with the activities of an interpreter and the development of basic skills, perform exercises, simultaneous translation of a simulated interview based on the content of the studied material, translations of unknown texts on the studied topic; analyze the shortcomings of their own translations; acquire the skills of thematic and terminological preparation for simultaneous translation and the choice of a translation strategy depending on the communication situation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: oral exercises and tasks, presentation of the results of independent individual work on glossaries, audio recordings of simultaneous translations as homework and independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points (maximum number of 80 points) obtained by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (simultaneous translations, oral exercises and assignments, audio recordings of translations as homework) and for independent work on compiling glossaries. Final assessment: credit: 20 points. The minimum number of points per semester is 48. The minimum number of points for credit is 12.
