Course content
The discipline "Biological Membranes" introduces students to modern views on the biochemical composition and molecular structure of the plasma membrane and membranes of intracellular organelles, with the peculiarities of the structure of specific membrane areas - lipid rafts and caveolae, with modern methods of isolating and studying biological membranes and their individual components, with the biochemical mechanisms by which membranes implement their functions (transport, receptor, formation of intercellular contacts), with the processes underlying free radical damage to biological membranes and mechanisms of antioxidant protection, as well as with the involvement of these cellular structures in the implementation of various forms of cell death
