Learning outcomes
PR02. Be able to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin, using appropriate methods.
PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the main physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids).
PR07. Be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of various biological agents to determine optimal cultivation conditions and the potential for using the studied cells in biotechnology.
PR10. Be able to conduct experimental studies to determine the influence of physicochemical and biological factors of the external environment on the vital activity of cells of living organisms.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the academic disciplines "Cell Biology", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Fundamentals of Ecology", "Biochemistry", "Microbiology", "Plant Anatomy and Physiology", "Human and Animal Physiology", "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology (Part 1)".
2. Ability to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and other academic disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work; work with scientific and scientific-methodical literature.
3. Possession of elementary skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The academic discipline "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology (Part 2)" studies the possibilities of using methods of genetic engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc. to obtain biological molecules or transgenic organisms for use in various fields of health care and ecology: obtaining and using cells of microorganisms, animals and plants, as well as their vital products: enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, antibiotics, etc.
