The course “Foreign Language for Academic Purposes (English)” for students of the Faculty of Geography is part of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the “Master’s” level, in the field of knowledge E – Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics, major E4 - Earth Sciences. The course is mandatory. It is taught in the first and second semesters for a total of 180 hours (6 ECTS credits), including: practical work – 56 hours, independent study – 124 hours. The course consists of two content sections and two assessments. The course concludes with a test in the first semester and an exam in the second semester. The teaching model is cyclical and thematic in nature.

Practical sessions, independent study

Classroom/group and individual interviews – 10 points / 6 points. Written assignments for independent study (4 assignments) – 10 points / 6 points each. Test (2 tests) – 10 points / 6 points each. Presentation (3 presentations) – 10 points / 6 points each. The semester grade is determined by the points earned by the student in the process of mastering the material from all topics of the course and completing independent assignments. The maximum number of points that can be earned during the semester is 100. The points earned by the student during the semester constitute 100% of the final grade for the course.
