Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the "Hydroecology" course. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general hydrogeology and hydrochemistry, as well as the hydrochemistry of Ukraine. Mastery of basic concepts regarding the hydrochemistry of water bodies and their hydrochemical regime, and having skills in hydrochemical data processing.
Course content
The course "Environmental Standardization and the Impact of Waste on the Environment" is an elective course within the professional and practical training cycle for the "Master" educational and qualification level. The course is based on the theoretical sections of a fundamental course in the basics of hydrochemistry—specifically, the sections dedicated to the conditions of natural water chemical composition formation, the role of anthropogenic factors in its alterations, the impact of wastewater discharges on water bodies, as well as solid waste generation and disposal. As an integral component of the state environmental management system, environmental standardization serves as an important mechanism for controlling and regulating these processes. State policy in the field of standardization is defined by the Laws of Ukraine and other regulatory legal acts. The core provisions of the state standardization system are reflected in the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as in specific DSTU (State Standards of Ukraine).

Assessment methods and criteria
Throughout the semester, upon completion of the respective topics, thematic written tests with open-ended questions are conducted. To be eligible for the exam, students are required to take the content module tests and complete all practical works. For students whose total score is below the critical minimum of 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory requirement to obtain exam admission. The maximum score for the exam is 40 points, and the minimum score to be added to the semester grades is 24 points (60% of the maximum points allocated for the exam/credit). Students who have accumulated a total semester score below the critical minimum of 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum score for exam admission is 36 points.
