Learning outcomes
PR01. Analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects of Earth's geospheres. PR05. Plan and conduct scientific experiments, write research papers in the specialized field. PR07. Know modern methods of Earth and its geospheres research, and be able to apply them in production and research activities. PR12. Model geospheric objects and processes using cartographic, mathematical methods, and geographic information technologies. PR13. Identify, classify, and record new objects within geospheres, along with their inherent properties, phenomena, and processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of water exchange and the global hydrological cycle on Earth, the formation of groundwater and deep subsurface runoff into rivers, and calculations of water exchange between surface water and groundwater; Mastery of elementary skills in water balance calculations and statistical processing of hydrological and hydrogeological data series; Proficiency in methods of information synthesis and analysis.
Course content
This course provides students with modern, specialized knowledge on the interdependence of river and groundwater runoff, the key indicators and factors shaping water exchange between surface and ground waters, as well as methods for studying and quantifying this water exchange. Master's students must have an understanding of various methods for determining groundwater discharge into rivers, as well as the ability to apply selected methods in practice. For Master's students, as future researchers, priority is given to mastering the principles and logic of parameter selection for mathematical runoff models, as well as methods for processing, scientifically analyzing, and interpreting raw data and calculation results.

Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is carried out in the form of a written test. The maximum number of points during the test is 40, the minimum number of points added to the semester points is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the test). The final grade for the discipline consists of the points scored based on the results of the semester control for the first and second parts and the points of the final test.
