Learning outcomes
PRN 2. Confidently possess state and foreign languages for the implementation of written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present research results in national and foreign languages. PRN 6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means of language and speech technique to achieve the planned pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PRN 10. Collect and systematize linguistic, literary, folklore facts, interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PRN 14. Create, analyze and edit texts of various styles and genres. PRN 15. Choose the optimal research approaches and methods for the analysis of specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in English at level C1. Know the main functions, types, structure and participants of the communication process; functional styles and genres of English speech. Be able to perceive, select and critically interpret information from English-language sources; decode the speaker's intentions by analyzing communicative strategies in oral and written speech; analyze, compare, and contrast language and speech phenomena at the level of a sentence, paragraph, or text; analyze original English texts of various genres; create texts in compliance with the norms of the speech genre; perform and present educational projects and work in a project group.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to improve and increase the effectiveness of students' English-language communicative competence in academic communication by systematizing knowledge about the speech means and rhetorical strategies of the English language used in academic communication; to develop in students the skills to produce and translate academic texts in English, to analyze and use speech means and rhetorical strategies in various situations of academic communication, and to identify them when translating texts of various genres of the relevant discourse.

Assessment methods and criteria
A student is allowed to take the final assessment provided that he/she completes all practical work and the module test, receiving a total of at least 36 points. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive mark) that are added to the semester marks is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the exam).
